Neighbourhood Group Worker

We welcome applications for a Part Time, Four day - 29.6 hour Neighbourhood Group Worker position in Skelmersdale and West Lancs.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a permanent, part time, Neighbourhood Group Worker, in the Skelmersdale / West Lancashire district. The main purpose of this role is to help and support our children, young people and families through group work sessions and drop ins, in our neighbourhood centres and in community venues.

Neighbourhood Group Workers are frontline delivery staff who lead on our group work offer across West Lancs. Working with children 0-11 years old you will be running pre-school sessions, groups for school aged children and parenting support courses. As a Neighbourhood Group Worker you will have the opportunity to access training opportunities in line with our delivery focus.

Group work is targeted to those most in need and focuses on supporting children and families development and progression. Information and support provided through group work will help parents to make informed decisions for their families and impact positively on children, supporting them to be able to reach their full potential. Group workers will build positive relationships with parents and children, building mutual trust and respect.

Group workers are responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of our high quality prevention and early intervention sessions, in line with our curriculum offer. Some of the groups and courses they deliver are Triple P parenting courses, Transition courses for those moving into primary or secondary schools, Baby and You and Baby Massage courses for 0-1 year olds and Chat Play and Read and Development Matters for our pre school children, plus various other groups, session or courses.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has a passion for working with children and families. You will have access to a wide range of training opportunities in line with our group work offer and to support your learning and development.

Skills and Experience

Level 2 or above professional and/or relevant academic qualification OR vocational experience in a relevant technical or operational field.

This position is part time, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.
