ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

  • We are looking for a Furnace Construction Supervisor to join our KG Asset team on-site in Grangemouth. The post holder will lead the field execution phase of the Furnace Overhaul Programme, aligned to business objectives; specifically the operational requirements of KG. The Furnace Construction Supervisor is a critical role in the delivery of site personal safety objectives and essential in the continued development of a positive safety culture across the asset.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead the delivery of the Furnace Overhaul programme in the field, coordinating resources, materials, permits and anything else necessary to complete activity on time, within budget and to the design intent whilst ensuring the necessary safety and technical standards are met.
  • Monitor and report daily progress against the relevant schedule, ensure issues are identified at the earliest opportunity and that appropriate mitigations are put in place.
  • Accountable for the safety performance of all those working on the Furnace Overhaul Programme. With support from the Furnace Project Engineer, ensure daily SHE performance is in line with vendors specific SHE plans, INEOS 20 Principles and Life Saving Rules.
  • Liaising closely with the Furnace Project Engineer, support the execution of all Furnace Overhaul Assurance Processes.
  • Be aware of and apply relevant International, National and INEOS standards, procedures and systems of work for construction activities.
  • Provide construction expertise and advice during scope definition, pre-engineering, planning and any safety / engineering reviews to ensure construction requirements and any relevant legislation is complied with. Review method statements and risk assessments to ensure safe and efficient execution of all site works in compliance with control of work procedure.
  • Ensure accurate and complete “as built” information is provided to update site records.

  • Feels accountable for the safety of everyone working on Furnaces’ and is recognised by all as a key contributor to the overall safety culture on site.
  • Work outside normal hours with some inconvenience.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Have a minimum qualification: HNC in a Mechanical engineering discipline or suitably recognised alternative.
  • Have extensive years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a similar or equivalent industry; however the relevance of the experience is more of a critical factor than number of years or industries worked in.
  • Have job specific & knowledge skills: demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills, bias for action with ability to co-ordinate, motivate and support a multi-disciplined team of service providers. Working knowledge/demonstration in respect of key regulations relating to design, maintenance and inspection for onshore, UK facilities.
  • Have established and sustained effective working relationships with stakeholders, Furnace Team and all supporting 3rd parties.
  • Be able to proactively challenge in an appropriate manner where business or engineering benefits can be achieved.
  • Have good decision making skills within area of own expertise.
  • Be able to interpret plans and progress measures.
  • Have a understanding of commissioning processes and the relationship with construction and completion control.
  • Be able to familiarise themselves with the scope/drawings/specifications and schedules in order to understand both what is to be implemented as well as how.
